Fig Newtons,
crappifiedThe "100% Whole
Grain" Fig
Newtons manufactured by the Kraft/Nabisco conglomerate is a step
in the right direction but are still are polluted by sugar (#3
highest-percentage component),
corn syrup (#4), high fructose corn syrup (#5), and partially hydrogenated
cottonseed oil (#8).
So, I e-mailed them in April, 2011:
| In my opinion, your 100% Whole Grain Fig Newtons stop short of being
healthy. Is it truly necessary to keep ladling sweeteners and hydrogenated fats into your mass-produced foods? |

Hi Paul,
Thank you for visiting kraft.com. Because our recipes are proprietary, I can not disclose the exact amount of sugar in a product. Hydrogenated oils are used because they are more stable which helps to ensure the quality of a product throughout its shelf life.
Products containing hydrogenated oils can be part of a nutritious diet. For more information about food nutrition, visit www.kraftfoods.com and click on Healthy Living.

Hi Kim McMiller/Kraft Customer
Relations,
Thank you for your reply. You guys are so out of date.
Hydrogenated fat is not "part of a nutritious diet."
The partially hydrogenated oil you use in your Fig Newtons is an
artificially manipulated chemical that viciously
clogs human arteries leading to disease and death.
Why not just switch to not-hydrogenated oil and have cookies
with a slightly shorter shelf life? The cookies you manufacture
are consumed by millions. Could you elaborate on how
Kraft/Nabisco justifies buying extra shelf life with the
ingredients of death?
I look forward to your reply.

We might be waiting a long time.
